Prepping 4-5 dinners typically takes 3-3 1/2 hours. I typically plan the menu Thursday. Food shop Friday and prep on Sunday for the week.
To start food prep, get everything you need out and on the counter or table. So tie on your apron and get these supplies ready to go:
– cutting board
– chopping knife
– dish towel (lots of hand washing!)
– a couple bowls
– garbage bowl (saves lots of time from running to the trash can)
– large soup pot
I have all the veggies I need on the counter too. All of my vegetables, which arrive every Friday from Green Bean Delivery, have already been washed in a water-vinegar solution. (1 part vinegar to 3 parts water, soak for 4-5 minutes)
I keep my meats (most also from Green Bean Delivery) and cheese in the refrigerator until I need them.
